Sentience: The ability of an entity to take in sensory data and process it into information describing—at basic level—natural phenomena. E.g. the ability to take in sensory data from the eye and process it in the brain’s visual cortexes into a field of vision describing basic aspects of the world such as motion, color, defined shapes, and depth perception.

Sapience: The ability of an entity to rationally and/or emotionally analyze information, deriving implications, meanings, and abstract concepts concerning underlying relationships and dynamics.
